Principal's Spring Break Message

Dear Mustang Families,

It is hard to believe that spring break is here! At Montgomery we have a caring, vibrant school environment, nurtured by our community. I want to especially thank our staff and parent volunteers who help make Montgomery a very special place to learn every day.

We recently celebrated Kindness week with many opportunities for students to demonstrate their care and concern for others. Stop by the kindness tree in the MPR and library to read the thoughtful words from students. On April 7th our school will hold its annual auction The Maltese Mustang: A Montgomery Mystery at the Davis Art Center and I look forward to seeing you there.

I also want to thank parents and staff who took the time to participate in our community conversation around our program at Montgomery. Your feedback was essential in developing our recommendation. At the March 15th meeting, the school board approved our plan to expand Two-Way Bilingual Immersion on our campus beginning next year with an additional Kinder and 1st grade class. Our English Only program will continue for grades 2nd through 6th. I will share more information after spring break about our transition and long term planning for our campus. We will continue to work with individual families who are immediately impacted by these program changes. If you have questions or concerns I encourage you to reach out to my office.

I wish you all a happy and restful spring break and look forward to seeing you all when school resumes April 2.

The Mustang Motto

Welcome to our school!  We have a caring, vibrant learning environment built and nurtured by our community.  At Montgomery, learners come first.  Our instructional program is unique in that we have both a Two Way Bilingual Immersion program and a neighborhood English only program.  MME also has rich science, art and music programs.  Our parent and guardian participation is outstanding and is a critical part of our success. Thank you for visiting our website!

6th Annual Parent Engagement Night

Wednesday, April 25 at Emerson Junior High, 6:00-8:00pm

Parents, community members, district teachers, staff and principals are invited for an evening of presentations and keynote speakers, including Mayor Rob Davis. Together we will learn about wellness and health coping skills for students, social media and internet safety, how to promote inclusion through school climate committees, and how our newly ratified Graduate Profile will drive innovation in DJUSD classrooms. Join us for a very full evening of collective learning. This is a no cost event, child care and Spanish translation services are provided. More information and registration can be found on the Parent Engagement Website.

Announcing the Safety Task Force

Davis Joint Unified recognizes that the issue of student safety is not something we face alone, nor something we can fully address in isolation. To strengthen our safety net, we need our community’s support to identify risks and find ways to implement improvements in a timely manner.

The Davis Joint Unified School District cordially invites you to participate in a Safety Task Force. The Safety Task Force is designed to provide the Davis Joint Unified District with community input on a spectrum of safety-related considerations, challenges and solutions. The Safety Task Force process will also serve to direct feedback to a variety of school safety-related plans, including our Facilities Master Plan, scheduled to be finalized in May for Board of Education consideration.

All Safety Task Force meetings will take place in April 2018, and please see the schedule here. The Task Force meetings are open to the public and will include Spanish language interpretation.
